Brant Gardner has put out not one, but 2 books on the Book of Mormon. The first is titled “Plates of Mormon” & is the “Brant Gardner Translation.” He has re-punctuated it and added study helps. The second is a commentary called “Engraven Upon Plates, Written Upon Paper,” where he gives even more commentary on the Book of Mormon. Check out our conversation…

I want to thank you for adding to my knowledge of Sidney Rigdon. This occurred through one of your podcasts posted on Wheat and Tares. Unfortunately I have been banned from posting there, but still read your posts there along with the comments they generate. And this one has generated a LOT of comments. It also led me to Royal Skousen’s critical text and Grant Hardy’s introduction.

All that said, there was one comment in the W&T thread about the relative clarity of the French translation of BOM versus the English original. The same comment has been made about Baudelaire’s French translations of Poe. Maybe Brant should go that route and backtranslate the more literary French BOM.

Brant Gardner discusses his 2 new books, "Plates of Mormon" & "Engraven Upon Plates, Written Upon Paper." The first is essentially the Brant Gardner Translation.
